이우환 <관계항>의 윤리적 변용
이 글에서는 이우환의 설치 작품인 <관계항> 연작의 미학적 구성을 윤리적 관점, 특히 관계윤리의 관점에서 살펴본다. <관계항>과 관련해 이우환의 만남의 의미를 ‘짓거리’라는 예술행위의 차원에서 점검해보면서 <관계항>이 지닌 신체적 장소의 미적 구성에 윤리적 변용이 가능할 수 있음을 알아본다. 다음으로 그의 <관계항>들을 시기별로 살펴보면서 각각의 작품의 미학적 구 성이 윤리적으로 변용 가능할 수 있는지 상세하게 논의한다. “차이, 있는 그대로 의 모습, 장소성, 외부성, 거리두기” 등 많은 미학적 요소에는 윤리적으로 변용될 수 있는 타자윤리의 특성들이 고스란히 놓여 있다고 할 수 있다. 또한 그의 관계 미학의 결과로서 나타나는 대조, 대화, 응답, 그리고 포옹의 요소들도 전형적인 관계윤리적 담론으로 전개될 수 있다고 본다. 이우환의 <관계항>에 대한 많은 연구가 있어 왔지만, 이러한 윤리적인 관점 을 통해 그의 작품들이 지니는 관계에 대한 주제 의식이 보다 선명하게 드러날 수 있으며, 그의 작품들을 해석하고 이해함에 있어 또 다른 접근 방법이 가능할 수 있음으로 제시하고자 한다.
Lee Ufan’s and Its Ethical Modification
In this article I look into the aesthetic structure of Lee Ufan’s series of in terms of ethics, especially of relational ethics. His artistic form of act, which is called ‘zitguru’ in Korean, is important to understand what he means by encounter in the works of . In this sense the artistic structure of body-relational place holds the possibility of the ethical modification. Then considering the series of the to each timing I will argue the ethical modification of works. The aesthetic concepts of “difference, as is, place, externality, and distancing,” which are modified to ethics, have the ‘others-ethics’ characteristics. As a result, from concepts of “contrast, dialogue, response, and embracing,” Lee’s relational aesthetic arguments also have a possibility to evolve in relational ethics. Although there have been many significant studies of Lee Ufan’s , by this ethical approach the thematic consciousness of those works can be clearly defined.
