광주, 인문도시 이후
도시공동체 구성원이 각자가 살아왔던 삶의 이력과 지향에 따라 각양각색일 수 있듯, 인문학 또한 각자의 방식대로 각자의 욕망과 욕구에 따라 그 의미나 가 치가 수 천 수만 가지일 수 있다. 좋은 도시란 이 다름을 ’틀림’이나 ‘차별’로 밀어 내거나 배제하지 않고, 이들과 함께 공존하는 삶을 누구나 다 기꺼이 추구하고자 하는 관용의 정신으로부터 출발해야 한다. 이는 인문학을 대중화함으로써가 아 니라, 대중이 인문학화 되고 대중들의 일상이 인문학적으로 변화될 때에만 가능 할 수 있다. 이 글의 목적은 좋은 도시가 갖추어야 할 위와 같은 조건에 입각해 인문도시 광주의 지속을 위해 필요한 몇 가지 실천적 사항들을 제언하는 것이다. 이를 위해 이 글은 2013년부터 2017년까지 한국연구재단의 지원 아래 전남대학 교 철학연구교육센터와 광주 광산구의 컨소시엄의 형태로 2차례 걸쳐 진행되었 던 인문도시 사업을 비판적으로 성찰하고, 이질적 공중들의 도시 광주를 인문도 시 광주의 이상적 지향점으로 제안하고자 한다.
Results of Gwangju, Humanities City
Just as the lives of each person living in an urban community are different depending on their past life and goals, there can be thousands and tens of thousands of meanings for humanities depending on each person’s desires and needs. A good city should not view different as ‘wrong’ and push away or exclude difference through ‘discrimination’, but instead start with a mentality of tolerance where everyone can pursue together a life of coexistence. This is possible only when the general public become immersed in humanities and the daily lives of the public change toward humanities, rather than being based on the popularization of humanities. The purpose of this paper is to propose a few things that should be put into practice for the continuation of the humanities city Gwangju based on the above conditions needed for a good city. For this, this study critically examined the humanities city project conducted over two separate sessions in the form of a consortium between the Chonnam National University Philosophy Research Education Center and Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju sponsored by the National Research Foundation from 2013 to 2017, and proposes the ideal goal of Gwangju that is a city of heterogenous public to the humanities city Gwangju.
