This study is a preliminary work for researching from the viewpoint of hermeneutics and reading phenomenology by locating the text of fantasy literature in Korea. For this study, we expanded the meaning of mimesis to study the value of fantasy literature and the meaning of reading. In literature, fantasy contributes to expanding reality based on human imagination. The reader expands the expanded reality again, and the journey of Mimesis leads to the field of reading. If Hume expands Mimesis through fantasy, Ricoeur expands Mimesis into a reading theory. The theory of reading was done in the process of migrating from the author to the text, from the text to the reader. Thus, reading is not simply an act to acquire knowledge and information, but to actively and positively confront the world and become an act of understanding self and the world. Fantasy literature is the text that enables Ricoeur's self-understanding reading. Therefore, fantasy literature should be actively studied. From the point of view of reading, good fantasy literature is not cliche, it tells how to see the life of the reader differently from reality, and opens up the possibilities of various interpretations. It enables understanding of self and the world through emotions and empathy, Which is a story that helps us to choose behavior in existential situations through such introspection. I hope that efforts to study Korean literary fantasy as hermeneutics and phenomenology from the perspective of the reader will be continued in the future.
